I still have no idea when I'll get a vaccine.

Our governor has called for prosecution of whoever told outright lies to states about the USA's distribution capacity and scheduling.  We're not reaching our intended/expected rollout schedule.  We're still in Phase 1a, and I as an "essential employee" at my building should be included when we reach Phase 1c, if I'm reading these guidelines appropriately.

After more than a month, we currently are delivering only 88,113 doses per week.  With a population of over 5.6 million, it would take about 64 weeks to give everyone in Minnesota a single dose... and more than 2 years to give everyone their recommended 2 doses.  That's right, 2 years more of these safety procedures.  I sure hope this new national administration is working on increasing supply.

In better news, my usual healthcare clinic gave me this link which states that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is preservative-free.  Yay!  That means it's safe for me to take it.  I can't get the usual doses from shared vials, because my body reacts to the thimerosal preservative in them.  I learned about it back in the 1980s as a teenager when I tried to switch from glasses to contacts.  My eyes reached a point that they would burn intensely and turn red as soon as I put the contacts in.  The optometrist told me that he sees some people react to the thimerosal.  I've always worn glasses since then.

I didn't learn until much later that even knowing some people react to thimerosal, we still inject it directly into people's tissue without testing them first for reactivity.  It seems like a bad plan, but I guess people like me are quite rare.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my messenger-rna vaccine dose... someday.

Contact lenses and solutions have changed A LOT in the past 40 years if you end up being interested again. That is no longer an issue.

I received my first shot last Sunday. It's the Moderna Vaccine. I checked with the nurse prior to her administering to shot and The Modern vaccine is egg-free, thimerosal-free and latex free. I helped three neighbors sign up the lottery today. When I began the process for one 80-year old neighbor, I was told I was in queue behind 9400 people; it took an hour. When I helped the other two ladies, one 75 and one almost 90, I got instantly. It's a lottery and they're on a wait list, but at least they're in the conversation!

I'm not sure which you'll get. Catholic Eldercare received the Moderna vaccine, so that's the one I got. I'm relieved I qualified through work, as I'm too young to qualify in terms of age. I do know others in Minnesota who have received the Pfizer vaccine.
