October in Minnesota
2021-Oct-15, Friday 01:43 pmThe weather has turned chilly at long last. I removed the air conditioner from the window today.
Coronavirus is still surging according to wastewater testing, and hospital usage hit a high for 2021 (not as bad as 2020 yet). Although looking at the map, this time it's mostly a rural problem instead of the Twin Cities metro.
Apparently, rich people want into my neighborhood so adamantly now that I'm getting SMS text messages out of the blue from realtors wanting to buy my house. ("Hi, I'm looking for a place, and [my redacted street address], it's in the right area. I think you'd like my proposings Let me know.")
Part of me still wants to stay, so I've resumed job hunting.
Gunfire here is still awful. People still die just from being in the wrong place at the wrong time (whether in a car or on a scooter, and it's becoming the same in south Minneapolis and St. Paul), because of the bullets flying all over the place. Not just any bullets, but from high capacity magazines and semi-automatic gunfire.
But, sure, everything would be better if Team A versus Team B were in charge... instead of people who are committed to trying something new instead of the same stuff that got us to this point. I keep getting paper mailings from the pro-police crowd. Somehow, none of them realize that other cities are doing what we want to do here, while our police are interfering with those same plans. But we're still the dangerous radicals, somehow. At least it'll be decided in a few weeks... until the next election, anyway.
