new lunar year

mellowtiggerLife here in the warzone does have its pleasant moments. These are the things that remind me why I enjoy living in a multicultural neighborhood: the pleasant surprises.
I worked my usual shift from home today, then I started hearing bells jingling and singing outside. Judging from the direction, I figure it is an old Asian woman living on the street behind me. Apparently she's outside today in -16C/1F weather here in north Minneapolis. In warmer weather, I have wandered down the alley to investigate the nice noises, and I found her outside her back door.
Yesterday marked the start of this new lunar Year of the Tiger. I'm guessing that she is welcoming happier spirits to the house.
I sure hope it works. We all need it.
